Exegesis can feature handmade films, slides, sculpture, a radio station, photograph, and ceramic pistachio shells. It can feature other artists works on either side.
The work begins with a closed hallway or container showing two 16 MM film loops that must be crossed to access the other works. To view the films requires becoming part of their projection or view into them. The sound of the room features a radio station broadcasted over the course of the installation. It features collected sounds, music, and number stations from a bygone era of codes among other ghosts.
Exegesis is in response to now as an addendum. It’s a corpse, a stage, a border, a memory, a dance. To be the worm eating the detritus. All of us to cross through and be within it. Through the work I am still hopeful that our dance is real, the space is real, shared experience is real, and this gives me joy.
